Job description

Prestigious Computer Society is seeking an IT Support & Systems Administrator to join its Information Technology team. This is a hands-on role providing technical support and day-to-day systems administration for its Headquarters staff.

Environment includes hosted Desktop-as-a-Service/Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (DaaS/VDI), Windows and macOS endpoints, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, identity and access-management services, and a variety of cloud and business applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong IT fundamentals and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to apply knowledge across different technology platforms, research unfamiliar issues, and work with internal staff and external service providers to resolve technical problems.

This is a hybrid position, requiring three days per week in the organization’s mid-town NYC office and two days of remote work.

What You'll Do

·   Provide technical support for Windows and macOS users, applications, peripherals, remote access, conference-room technology, and the organization’s hosted VDI/DaaS environment.

·   Troubleshoot user, application, authentication, email, networking, and connectivity issues.

·   Use organization’s helpdesk system to triage, document, prioritize, track, and follow support requests through resolution.

·   Administer and support Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, user accounts, groups, permissions, MFA, SSO, and related services.

·   Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding and routine account, access, and messaging administration.

·   Support and administer Apple devices using an MDM platform.

·   Work with technology vendors, managed service providers, and hosting providers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

·   Assist with routine hosted web and WHM/cPanel support requests and escalate more complex Linux or hosting issues to senior IT staff.

·   Maintain technical documentation and participate in IT projects, deployments, upgrades, testing, and process improvements.

·   Develop additional systems-administration and Linux skills as experience with organization’s environment grows.

What We're Looking For

·   Approximately 3-5 years of professional IT support, systems administration, or related experience.

·   Hands-on experience supporting Windows environments; practical macOS support experience is preferred.

·   Experience supporting users in a VDI/DaaS, remote desktop, or similar environment.

·   Experience administering or supporting Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or comparable cloud platforms.

·   Experience using a helpdesk or IT ticketing system.

·   Strong troubleshooting, analytical, customer-service, and communication skills.

·   Working knowledge of identity and access-management concepts, networking, and email technologies.

·   Ability to independently research unfamiliar technical problems and determine appropriate solutions.

·   Ability to manage multiple requests, communicate effectively with users, and maintain ownership of issues through resolution.

·   Ability to recognize when an issue requires escalation and work effectively with internal staff and external service providers.

Helpful Experience

Experience in all of the following is not required, but familiarity with one or more would be beneficial:

·   Apple macOS support and endpoint/device management platforms

·   Microsoft Entra ID, MFA, SSO, and SAML

·   Email troubleshooting, including SMTP and interpreting email headers

·   TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting

·   FTP, FTPS, and SFTP

·   WHM/cPanel or other web-hosting environments

·   Linux and basic command-line concepts

Education

A bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience, technical training, or relevant certifications may also be considered.
