Job description

Investigations & White Collar Defense Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking an Investigations & White Collar Defense Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of experience to join the team of a leading international law firm in either New York, NY or Washington, DC.

The team advises global companies and financial institutions and represents corporations and executives in complex government investigations, enforcement matters, and regulatory proceedings involving agencies such as the Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and state attorneys general. The practice handles sophisticated, multi-jurisdictional, and cross-border matters and takes a strategic, investigative approach to addressing clients’ legal, regulatory, and business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct investigations on behalf of corporate clients and respond to enforcement inquiries from the DOJ, SEC, and other government agencies

  • Draft briefs, whitepapers, client- and government-facing presentations, and correspondence

  • Conduct witness interviews and depositions

  • Manage e-discovery and related discovery matters

  • Develop and synthesize complex factual records

  • Assist with case strategy, advocacy, and overall matter management

  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and clients on sophisticated investigations and enforcement matters

Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of relevant investigations, white collar defense, or government enforcement experience

  • Experience conducting corporate investigations and responding to government inquiries

  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

  • Experience with witness interviews and depositions

  • Familiarity with e-discovery

  • Excellent case management and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic and a collaborative, team-oriented approach

  • Active membership in the New York or Washington, DC bar

Compensation

New York, NY: $260,000–$365,000 annually
Washington, DC: $260,000–$365,000 annually

Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
