Wharton-Smith, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to work in the Water/Wastewater Division in Tampa, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of specific project tasks as assigned by the Project Manager. In this position, the candidate will interface with the estimating division (Project Engineers will gain/enhance experience in estimating), Project Assistant (administrative functions are required to complete many assigned tasks) and the Project Superintendent as well as the Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify need for Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Create production plans
  • Coordinate facility startup activities and production planning
  • Prepare, review and process submittals and shop drawings
  • Maintain as-built drawings
  • Collect and assemble O&M material
  • Purchase Order and Subcontract Scope analysis and drafting
  • Material purchasing, expediting, and tracking
  • Value engineering design and proposals
  • Contract document distribution to jobsite, vendors, subcontractors
  • Coordinate subcontractors
  • Visits project sites to monitor progress conformance to plans and standards
  • Development and distribution of meeting agendas and meeting minutes
  • Collecting and enforcement of safety programs and other safety documentation

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent math skills, scheduling, knowledge of surveying fundamentals, and adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office Products

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree.
