This position is responsible for performing lab tests on incoming/outgoing shipments and assists Supervisor with treatability studies. Includes monitoring safety regulations and the use of equipment, initiating work orders for repairs of equipment and maintaining production logs and QC paperwork. Logging of test results in CORE waste management software.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions): The main duties and responsibilities:
• Perform wet chemistry test on inbound/outbound load QC samples.
• Perform PCB analysis on QC samples.
• Maintain compliance and comply with Waste Analysis Plan (WAP).
• Complete and submit QC/QA documents to Operations.
• File, electronically, the completed QC/QA document.
• Review QC/QA test results to Waste profile Sheet to determine if results match profile.
• Process (consolidate) waste samples into larger containers.
• Package Samples to ship off site for testing.
• Communicate off-specification materials to managers.
• Conduct toolbox talks and area inspections.
• Communicate with Lab QC Supervisor to accomplish daily goals.
• Promptly report any incidents, injuries or safety concerns to management.
• Adhere to and abide by Clean Earth safety and security policies and procedures (e.g.Cardinal Rules, Job
Safety Analyses (JSAs), etc.)
• Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by management.
• Responsibilities may vary based on site level and/or location.
Work Environment:
• Must be able to regularly access and use general office equipment including phones, computers, copiers,
etc.
• Must be able to work in a busy, often distracting work environment that is generally climate controlled.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
• Ability and willingness to wear company-issued personal protection equipment (PPE) as
needed, including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed boots, gloves, Tyvek coveralls,
and respirator.
• Ability to work overtime hours as needed based on business needs
Education, Experience and Skills:
• Education: (BA or BS degree required or preferred)
o High school diploma or GED
o Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or an Environmental Sciences field preferred
Experience: (Required minimum of years of relevant experience.)
o 1+ years of prior experience working in a laboratory
o 2+ years of experience as a Lab QC Technician
o 40-hour HAZWOPER training
o Experience with basic lab techniques and calculations
Skills: (The skills listed are the abilities and knowledge required to perform the job effectively.)
o Proficiency with Windows-based programs
o Knowledge of gas chromatography and/or ICP-OES
o Knowledge of chemical compatibilities
o Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written
Temp starting out with possibility to hire full time. M-F with times being between 8am to 5pm or 8am to 6pm. Depending on completion of work.
Onsite Hazwoper training.
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
