Summary: The QA Technologist is responsible for inspecting, analyzing, and verifying incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure they meet quality standards and compliance requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The duties listed below are essential. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Follow all Redbarn policies and procedures.
  • Perform product inspections during the receiving and production process.
  • Report any issues or irregularities to the QA Supervisor and QA Manager.
  • Monitor and maintain calibration of all QA lab equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain validation of scales and metal detectors.
  • Perform audits.
  • Prepare samples for submission to the micro lab.
  • Adhere to FDA and USDA rules and regulations.
     



Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Previous work experience is a plus. An associate degree or some college with direct quality experience is preferred.  

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.  

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  

Computer Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of Internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software is required.  

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of lab practices.  
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  
  • Strong time management skills.  

Other Qualifications:

  • Must have good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills and be able to work well within a team environment.  
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
