Job description

Summary

The Classroom Coordinator is responsible for the function of the day to day operations of the program. The Classroom Coordinator provides direct supervision, coordination and support of classroom staff and engagement with families. This is considered a Leadership Role at Westminster Preschools Inc. All leadership will advocate for the organization in regard to fulfilling our vision and mission statement.

Position Description

Reports to: Operations Leader

Qualifications required: CDA, at least 2 years of Early Childhood Education experience

Qualifications preferred: Associateโ€™s Degree in Early Childhood Education or higher, early Childhood leadership experience

Requirements

  • Meet National Association Membership Qualifications

  • Infant/child CPR & First Aid Certification

  • Pass background check

  • Pass physical health screening

  • Willing and able to lift a child weighing at least 40 pounds

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, sit on the floor and rise from the floor without adult assistance.

Skills

  • Basic understanding of Google (Drive, gmail, calendar, etc).

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft (word, powerpoint, etc)

  • Basic understanding of Pathwright (online curriculum tool)

  • Organization

  • Creativity

Professional Development Required: 20 hours at minimum per year

Job Classification: Non-exempt

Hours: 35-40 hours a week. Varied with some weekends and evenings required.

Hourly: Pay based on education and experience

    6. Responds to teacherโ€™s needs throughout the day (i.e. potty breaks, providing prep time, filling in when a teacher is absent, etc)

    7. Ensure overall cleanliness of the facilities by checking cleaning lists are turned in, assists in end of the day cleaning duties.

    8. Be a substitute in a classroom when needed

  • Community

    1. Assist in Parent Teacher Conferences and see that they are conducted at least three times a year (August, December, May)

    2. Organize, schedule, and lead all program family or special events (i.e. Christmas Program, Stone Soup, Touch-a-Truck, Trunk-or-Treat, etc).

    3. Lead or assist in โ€œspecialโ€ times with classes, including but not limited to: Chapel, Music, Library, etc

    4. Create volunteer opportunities and incentives for community members and families to be part of in the school.

  • Communication

    1. Communicate and articulate Westminsterโ€™s mission, vision, values, and goals clearly.

    2. Ensure communication to another person is addressing them as a human and not as an object (i.e. saying hello, starting an email or text off with their name, etc).

    3. Updates promptly Google Calendar with events, time-off, etc.

    4. Efficiently and professionally utilizes various forms of group communication to staff (i.e. Groupme, email, text, phonecall, in-person).

  • Curriculum

    1. Learn and understand Westminsterโ€™s Curriculum through Pathwright and in paper form.

    2. Read Bill Millardโ€™s book โ€œLife Calling,โ€ which provides details behind the parts of the curriculum.

  • Creativity & Resourcefulness

    1. Able to create efficient organizational processes for filing cleaning checklists, time-off requests, etc.

    2. Motivated self-starter who is able to ask for assistance when needed.

    3. Assist in completing the daily staff schedule, ensuring ratios are being followed.

    1. Maintain emotional control in stressful situations.

    2. Creates and maintains healthy physical, emotional, and spiritual boundaries between staff and themselves.

      • This could include communicating how each type of communication is to be used. For example, Groupme is only used during the day for potty breaks and other immediate needs.
