DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Program Responsibilities Participates in curriculum development Actively participates in student success and advising Recommends text books and other instructional materials and equipment Coordinates with and serves as a liaison to the welding advisory committee Attends program and department meetings Serves on college committees as needed Instruction Instructs welding and related manufacturing courses Develops credit and non-credit courses and short-term workshops; arranges for guest speakers, tours and seminars to meet the needs of the welding and manufacturing industry Prepares and develops materials for assigned classes Maintains office hours for students and meets all scheduled classes Maintains records of grades and attendance; reports individual grades when required Provides students with course syllabi Acts as a strong team member and student role model in areas of team work, work ethics, adaptability communications, and work quality Delivers instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online Teaching and Learning Values Creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness Encourages creative and critical thinking Engages participants in an active learning process Facilitates learning that applies to and enriches lives Encourages student responsibility for learning Promotes learning as a lifelong process Institutional Expectations Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds Participates in recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in promotion of student success Embraces, understands and uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions Provides high quality, effective service to internal and external customers through continuous improvement and adoption of lean office practices CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Your application will be scored based on the minimum qualifications, core competencies, and preferred qualifications. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in welding or welding related field -AND- Experience teaching, training or mentoring in welding and/or manufacturing related fields -----OR------ High School diploma or GED -AND- Five years of successful occupational experience in welding or welding related field -AND- One year of college level course work (minimum of 45 credit hours) in welding or welding related courses -AND- Experience teaching, training or mentoring in welding and/or manufacturing related fields Core Competencies Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with other National (AWS or ASME) welding certification Preferred Qualifications Experience with layout, blueprint reading and ironwork College level welding or welding related teaching experience Bilingual English/Spanish ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a 100%, 10-month faculty assignment of the 172 duty day band and grade All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college. Requires flexible work schedule based upon program needs which includes some evening and weekend work and/or travel; in-state and out-of-state meetings, conferences, institutes, training and/or other meeting attendance as required. This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations If requested, you must supply official transcripts within 30-days of hire Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.

Even though weight lifted may be negligible, it may be rated light work if frequent walking and/or standing is required. PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS Chemeketa Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
