Job description

Helper/Apprentice

As a mechanical contractor, we install heating and cooling (HVAC) systems, plumbing systems and medical gas systems. We further specialize in the healthcare industry. Our work involves assembling, installing, alter and/or repairing piping systems that carry water, steam, air or other liquids or gases along with the installation of HVAC equipment, plumbing fixtures and medical gas equipment. Position is a full time(40 hour per week), hourly position.
Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Work in a manner that promotes safety to himself/herself and others working in the same area.
2. Assist plumbers, HVAC mechanics and/or welders install piping, fixtures and equipment.
3. Cut or drill holes in walls or floors to accommodate the passage of pipes.
4. Measure, cut, thread and assemble new pipe, placing the assembled pipe in hangers or supports.
5. Mount brackets and hangers on walls and ceilings to hold pipes and set sleeves or inserts to provide support for pipes.
6. Collect and carry materials and equipment to work site.
7. Fit or assist in fitting valves, couplings or assemblies to tanks, pumps or systems, using hand tools.
8. Assist pipe fitters in the layout, assembly and installation of piping for air, gas, and water systems.
9. Excavate and grade ditches and lay and join pipe for water and sewer service.
10. Disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe.
11. Use various hand and power tools to accomplish required tasks.
12. Continually strive to learn the intricacies of our trade.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation as employee will be asked to drive from jobsite to jobsite. It may also be necessary to drive company vehicles for company tasks.
