Job description

Position Title: Welder II
Department: Production – Day Shift
Location: Sioux Falls, SD

About AGI

AGI Hi Roller manufactures a line of premier commercial enclosed, dust-tight and self-reloading conveyors, designed for installation in grain handling facilities, soy and corn processing operations and industrial operations. It specializes exclusively in the design and application of conveyors which will not only contain dust and spilled materials but will also automatically reload that material back on the carrying surface of the belt.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced welder to join our team as a Welder II and help build top-quality grain conveyors from scratch. You’ll work with fresh, rust-free steel and precision laser-cut parts that fit together seamlessly, making your job straightforward and efficient. Our modern, climate-controlled facility is equipped with excellent weld fume extraction to keep the air clear and comfortable. Using MIG welders, you’ll work in a dedicated weld cell featuring an overhead bridge crane and hoist for easy parts handling. This is your chance to weld with precision and pride in a shop designed to make your work easier and better.

The Team

Our large production team consists of welders, assemblers, metal fabricators, powder coaters, and more. As a Welder II you will collaborate with your Production Supervisor and peers to produce top-quality grain conveyors for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Follow company safety rules in accordance with OSHA regulations such as wearing required PPE, safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs and gloves.
• Read and interpret blueprints and machine drawings, with minimal supervision, to determine specific welding requirements.
• Set up welding unit with minimal supervision to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse to weld parts per specifications using MIG welding (GMAW) process.
• Fabricates complex components with minimal supervision.
• Inspect own welds for compliance with standards.
• Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jig or fixtures.
• Tack assemblies together.
• Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
• Cleans or de-greases parts.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years' progressive experience in welding field, preferably MIG welding, in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret intermediate blueprints.
• Have good understanding of welding safety and symbols. Wear safety shoes, goggles, hoods with protective lenses and other devices designed to prevent burns and eye injuries.
• Follow AGI’s Code of Business Ethics and related compliance policies.
• Ability to handle repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift and maneuver 55 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to read and use tape measures.
