POSITION SUMMARY

The Welder Fabricator 1 will utilize metal inert gas (MIG) while welding steel and aluminum. This role will weld and assemble metal pieces and products by using handheld welding equipment. The role will set up parts for welding, use hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures. This position will work from specifications, drawings, and welding symbols. This role will prepare and complete work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal. They join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. They will interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process. The Welder Fabricator 1 will inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness. This position should be familiar with and comply with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. This position may also prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Perform MIG & TIG welding on products.
  • Perform cosmetic welding on products.
  • Must be able to meet daily productivity and output goals (production outputs are measured hourly/daily).
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications, work orders and/or prints.
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical/ horizontal).
  • Repair product and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
  • Cut aluminum to specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma, general education degree (GED), and/or completion certificate from a certified technical school preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of work-related experience as a MIG Welder highly preferred.

Required Licenses

  • MIG Welder Certification(s) preferred.

  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and calculate fractions.
  • Ability to visualize projects and put together timelines and processes to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
