Welder In Training Jobs in Oak Ridge, TN (NOW HIRING)

This role offers the opportunity to perform MIG welding in a supportive, growing manufacturing environment on a steady second shift schedule. You will complete a weld test and brief interview prior to starting and then contribute to production using your welding training and ability to read blueprints.

• Perform MIG welding on production parts, following established procedures and quality standards.
• Complete flat, uphill, and downhill welds as required by the weld test and ongoing production needs.
• Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
• Use flux core and related welding processes when needed to meet job and project requirements.
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
• Collaborate with the foreman and team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Participate in a scheduled weld test and short interview prior to starting work.
• Adapt to varying work assignments while maintaining consistent weld quality and workmanship.

• Experience with MIG welding in a production or training environment.
• Ability to perform flat, uphill, and downhill welds to meet test and production standards.
• Basic proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints.
• Familiarity with flux core welding processes.
• Completion of welding training such as TCAT or equivalent technical program.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures.
• Willingness to work second shift, Monday through Thursday from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

• TCAT welding training or similar technical education is strongly valued and can be sufficient without extensive experience.
• Expert or intermediate welder level is not required; candidates with solid training and the ability to learn on the job are welcome.
• Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with non-climate-controlled conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality welds.
• Reliability and punctuality for scheduled weld tests, interviews, and shifts.

The role is based in a clean, relaxed manufacturing facility that is non-climate controlled. You will work on second shift, Monday through Thursday, typically from 2:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Weld tests are scheduled in advance, generally between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., with flexibility around the foreman’s lunch break to accommodate candidates. The environment supports steady production work with access to welding equipment and tools needed to perform MIG and flux core welding safely and effectively. Dress in appropriate work attire suitable for a welding and manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oak Ridge, TN.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
