Job description

Reports to: Knoxville Plant Manager

Cooperates with: Welding, Fabrication, Substrate Assembly, Shipping

Primary Responsibility: The welder has primary responsibility of MIG & TIG welding of aluminum and steel (also, stainless steel) parts. Each job must be run with safety, accuracy and timeliness in the welding area.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform MIG & TIG welding based on product needs; welding round and rectangular elements.
  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints and other written instructions and diagrams to perform necessary task.
  • Knowledge of QC and product specifications.
  • De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture.
  • Conserve resources wherever possible to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of welding safety procedures and willingness to use PPE's provided.
  • Ability to perform Substrate Assembly Technician duties as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 1 + year(s) experience with metal working equipment in a metal fabrication facility.
  • Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to produce high quality products in a timely manner.
  • Proficient in the use of tools such as tape measure, calipers, forklifts, and cranes.
  • Welding certification a plus.
  • Prior work experience as a MIG or TIG welder helpful.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. individually and heavier items with team lift.
  • Knowledge of safe workplace practices.
