Ultra Maritime is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer II that will have a primary focus of supporting sonobuoy production and design. This role will be responsible for ensuring product conformance to qualified designs as well as monitoring and improving product performance. The role will provide support to the design engineering and production operations teams through the following responsibilities:

  • Identify appropriate materials and process to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products.
  • Create, interpret, review and maintain engineering documentation (Prints, Specifications, etc.)
  • Evaluate design and manufacturing processes through analysis and test
  • Perform root cause and corrective action analysis on returned hardware
  • Support supplier quality and manufacturing with DfM and troubleshooting
  • Foster technical collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines and across business functions
  • Write reports and present technical content at peer and design reviews

Additional Job Description:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline
  • 4+ Years of relevant experience

Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing techniques including injection moulding, die casting, machining, welding, etc.
  • Understanding of drafting principles and standards, including GD&T
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation including PFMEA and Work Instructions
  • Strong technical writing and communication to various stakeholders; ability to write engineering reports and deliverables
  • Proficiency with basic test and metrology equipment for engineering assessments
  • Experience in design, manufacture, and assembly of products
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling software (Solidworks, Inventor, Creo, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.
  • Able and willing to travel for test, supplier meetings, and customer meetings (up to 10%)

Typically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in a related field and 3+ years of related experience or a recognized apprenticeship.May be required to maintain security clearance.
