HOURLY RATE: $37.12
POSITION SUMMARY: Welding Apprentice
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • A recent Community College Certificate in at least one form of welding, or proof of completion of Beginning Welding Classes
  • Willingness to learn more than just welding
  • Ability to work a daytime shift during the weekdays
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be committed to Safety First objectives
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to current or daily job duties
  • Be fit for a respirator
  • Work overtime as needed to meet production demands

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Carry up to 65 pounds continually and up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Constantly climb stairs and ladders, up to 200 rungs/steps per hour
  • Work from one position, seated for 45 minutes, or standing for 2 hours at a time
  • Walk to, from and between assigned work areas throughout scheduled shift
  • Bend, twist, kneel, and reach constantly

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Endure noise, fumes, dust and inclement weather
  • Access confined spaces

Must join the Boilermakers Union within 30 days of starting the program.
