SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position will assist in welding process development, prototype, and testing of weldments to establish Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) for best practices and standards. This position is located at 2102 W. Roosevelt Street, Phoenix, Arizona.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develop, qualify, and optimize high precision technical EB weld designs, processes, and parameters.
  • Assist and develop weld fixturing and tooling design.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of production welding best practices for current products.
  • Inspect welded joints to ensure welds meet specifications and AWS, AMS, ANSI Standards
  • Investigates and evaluates welding defects to determine appropriate cause(s) and corrective action(s)
  • Set up welding qualification test campaigns and interpret mechanical testing and NDE results.
  • Support production operations on full scale welded assemblies, providing direction to manufacturing engineers and welders on correct techniques.
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.
  • Understand the importance of designing, building, and operating safe systems. Basic knowledge and understanding of basic safety work processes such as JSA’s and MOC’s.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 2-5 years highly skilled Electron Beam welding experience
  • 1-year minimum experience as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Must have CNC machine operation/programming experience in G code, conversational, and up to 5-axis.
  • Will also consider experience in Automotive, Medical, Aerospace and Oil & Gas industry.
  • Hands on welding experience of Aluminum and understanding of Aluminum oxidation.
  • Must have weld development experience and cross section evaluation knowledge.
  • Read and understand shop drawings and navigate SolidWorks drawing files.
  • SolidWorks, CAD/CAM knowledge or ability to learn.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Experience in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Lean and Six Sigma techniques.
  • Ability to successfully self-manage timelines and be self-motivated to control high precision welds. Ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Keen attention to details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and training skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

PREFFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline preferred.
  • Semiconductor industry or other manufacturing experience preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:

  • Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, using hands to finger, handle, or feel parts; reach with hands and arms; and talk and/or hear instructions.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Close vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to differentiate shades to identify defects.
