Job description

ITD - Welder
Job Overview: This is a Welder position in our JASPER Indiana Tool and Die Division. Basic prior welding knowledge would be required. Operations consist of using a spot-welding gun or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment to assemble metal components to effect repairs to various products and machinery. They are responsible for measuring sizes to ensure parts meet specifications that are shown on drawings or instructions. Welders may also need to fill holes or corrects mistakes in product and make bulges thin and curves in metal work pieces.
Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday 6:30am-3:00pm
  • Overtime available

Qualifications:
  • Needs to be able to use tape measures, squares, bench grinder, disc grinder, variety of hand tools, vertical and horizontal bandsaws. Must be able to identify types and sizes of metal and other material. Must also be able to understand CAD drawings and can sketch a part. Basic math skills (add, subtract, decimals, fractions) are also critical.
  • Must understand how to use equipment and follow procedures...and can pass the qualification process for SMAW (shielded metal arc welding), GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding), GMAW (gas metal arc welding) as well as brazing and soldering. Additionally, must understand how to safely use a torch to heat and cut.
  • The ability to lift, bend, push, pull and move materials up to 50lbs.
  • The ability to stand or walk an entire shift (can be approx... 8-10 hours)
  • The ability to use handheld tools such as Hammers, Screwdrivers, Wrenches, Squares, Tape Measures, Etc.
  • Standing: Continuously
  • Walking: Continuously
  • Sitting: Occasionally
  • Stooping (forward leaning): Occasionally.
  • Reaching/Working Overhead: Occasionally

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Reading and understanding blueprints, sketches, and samples to accurately weld-up, fabricate, and repair parts to customer specifications.
  • Some light lifting required and using hoists for heavy lifting to cut metal and install or remove large tooling or parts from the bench.
  • Use measuring equipment with both hands to accurately build up and grind down parts to customer specifications.
  • Operate welders, drill presses, saws, and various hand and power tools, with both hands, to repair or fabricate parts in conjunction with the specs and accuracy required for the specific job(s).
  • Must know how to adjust controls on the welder to make it work properly on different jobs.
  • Must perform preventative maintenance on welders and other equipment.
  • Clean area, bench, and machine at the end of each shift
