Job description

Shifts: Night shift (11:00 pm - 7:00 am), one to two shifts per week during the semester (8-16 hours/week), extra when there are no classes. Must work holidays on a rotational basis.

Please note that preference will be given to current Asbury Seminary students in filling this position.

Position Summary:

Serve as a liaison between Asbury Inn & Suites and our guests in the areas of reservations, hospitality, and shuttle services. Reconcile cash drawer, computer, and credit card machine while performing the daily night audit. This position requires a high level of understanding of the customer service industry. Welcome guests, anticipate guest needs, and administer front desk functions.

Essential Functions:

Process the daily night audit

  • Run reports from the computer and credit card machine.
  • Reconcile cash drawer, computer reports, and credit card reports.
  • Process the daily transmittal (deposit).
  • Account for the cash drawer.

Assist with the daily operations of Asbury Inn & Suites:

  • Represent Asbury Seminary in welcoming guests, alumni, prospective students, and Seminary officials by creating an atmosphere of hospitality.
  • Answer the phone and make, delete, or edit reservations in the computer system. Direct calls as necessary and take messages for guests.
  • Perform check-in/check-out procedures: enter data, collect payments, hand out keys, etc.
  • Respond to and problem-solve guest concerns that arise during the shift.
  • Answer guest questions regarding ATS and the community; provide directions to/from the Seminary and places in the area.
  • Handle emergency situations by contacting the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform minor cleaning duties
  • Process airport shuttles to and from Asbury Inn & Suites
  • Provide security for Asbury Inn lobbies and hallways.
  • Serve as the Seminary switchboard.
  • Set up breakfast and restock food and supplies.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend monthly mandatory staff meetings.
  • Work on holidays and Seminary breaks as assigned.
  • Become an Asbury Seminary approved driver and operate airport shuttle transportation if necessary.
  • Adhere to Asbury Inn policies & dress code.
  • Responsible for knowing proper emergency procedures.
  • Responsible for knowing area attractions and services.
  • Responsible for knowing Asbury Inn & Suites services & amenities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills as needed to interact with the public, including the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and cash drawer procedures to include bank reconciliation and basic bookkeeping procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate a presence of hospitality and professionalism as needed to represent ATS to the general public.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and go above and beyond minimum expectations in order to ensure guests experience quality customer service.
  • Ability to solve problems and make appropriate decisions/recommendations.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidences and comply with policies and the ability to communicate policies with clear boundaries when dealing with the public.
  • Skill in operating a computer and the ability to learn a new computer software program (innRoad) with training.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Have or be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certification.
