Job description

Wegner CPAs is proud to partner with our client on the east side of Madison on their search for an HR Director!

Are you a people-focused HR professional who thrives in a leadership role and enjoys building strong workplace culture, improving processes, and supporting employees across all levels of an organization? We're looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team and lead key HR initiatives that support our employees and organizational success.

In this role, you'll oversee all aspects of human resources including payroll and benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations, training and development, compliance, and performance management. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing strategic HR leadership with hands-on day-to-day operations.

What You'll DoPayroll & Benefits Administration
  • Lead and oversee payroll operations and related processes
  • Administer employee benefit programs including health, dental, life insurance, retirement plans, FSA programs, workers' compensation, and unemployment
  • Manage enrollments, claims resolution, invoice approvals, audits, and policy evaluations
  • Analyze and maintain compensation programs, including merit increases and bonus planning
  • Oversee and enhance performance evaluation programs to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness
Recruitment & Employee Relations
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment efforts to maintain appropriate staffing levels across locations
  • Review, update, and develop job descriptions
  • Partner with supervisors on employee performance, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and workplace concerns
  • Investigate and resolve employee relations issues while promoting a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Support compliance and best practices in hiring, promotions, transfers, and workforce planning
Training & Development
  • Develop and coordinate employee training and development programs
  • Partner with leaders to identify training needs and implement effective learning solutions
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory training requirements
Compliance & Reporting
  • Prepare and analyze HR reports related to staffing, turnover, compensation, recruitment, absenteeism, and benefits
  • Maintain knowledge of employment laws and regulations and advise leadership accordingly
  • Identify HR trends and recommend strategies that support organizational goals
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent specialized training in Human Resources or a related field
  • 4+ years of Human Resources experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • Experience in long-term care and/or assisted living preferred
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and staff
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% (primarily local travel with minimal overnight stays)
