Santa Ana, CA

12+ Months Contract

Department: Billing & Revenue Cycle
Reports To: Billing Manager / Operations Director

 

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Superbill Coder to join our billing and revenue cycle operations as an independent contractor. The ideal candidate will accurately review and code superbills, ensuring compliance with payer guidelines and timely claim submissions. This role requires a self-motivated and detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review provider notes, SOAP documentation, and superbills for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes according to payer and compliance guidelines.
  • Validate codes to meet Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance requirements.
  • Identify and correct discrepancies before claim submission.
  • Ensure timely processing of superbills in weekly or bi-weekly billing cycles.
  • Collaborate with providers and billing staff to resolve coding-related issues.
  • Maintain records for audit and compliance tracking.
  • Support claim resubmissions or denials related to coding errors.
  • Stay current with coding updates and payer-specific policies.

Qualifications:

  • CPC, CCS, or equivalent coding certification
  • 2–3 years of experience in medical coding (superbill, outpatient, home health, or hospice).
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier usage.
  • Experience with EHR systems (Practice Fusion, Kareo, or similar).
  • Familiarity with Medicare and commercial payers.
