In the context of work schedules, 'weekends' typically refer to the days at the end of the week, usually Saturday and Sunday, when most businesses and organizations are closed or have reduced hours. Many employees have weekends off as part of a standard Monday-to-Friday workweek, though some industries require weekend shifts.
