Duties As a Financial Management Specialist at the GS-0501-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: * Serves as a senior remediation specialist and project lead providing assistance and guidance concerning financial statement and process deficiencies. * Plans remediation program activities, conduct root cause analyses, develop remediation plans, and implement corrective actions for internal and external accounting, audit, and budget deficiencies. * Manages financial improvement and audit remediation activities. * Develops and maintains supporting documentation for remediation activities and policy revisions. * Develops accounting, audit, and internal control policies and practices impacting Transportation Working Capital Fund financial reporting, operating results, and auditability. * Collaborates with key stakeholders to improve internal controls, policies, and procedures. Incumbent shall comply with the requirements of this program * Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft * Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays * Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance * Responsible for safeguarding sensitive information and files Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: * Developing corrective action plans and providing oversight of business process remediation; reviewing milestones for accuracy. * Performing quality assurance reviews over policies related to financial reporting, financial management, financial systems, auditing, and accounting processes. * Analyzing results of all internal and external remediation progress to draw conclusions for annual financial statement audit and provide assessment results to senior leaders. * Performing financial improvement and audit remediation activities at assessable unit level or comparable business process operational units. * Overseeing the activities of a process improvement team is highly desirable. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
