We are looking for an inpatient clinical psychiatrist to join our Psychiatric Services Department here in central Vermont. This is a hospital employed position.23-bed adult inpatient unit including 17-bed general admission and adjacent 6-bed psychiatric ICU. Although it is a locked unit, 90% are voluntary admissions. The inpatient team has been recently recognized by the State of Vermont for its exemplary work in leading the effort to reduce the incidence of seclusion and restraint. The successful candidate will be aligned philosophically with goal of minimizing all forms of coercive treatment through implementation of national best practice models.Preference will be given to candidates with experience in addiction medicine who are interested in providing outpatient services at our Medication Assisted Treatment Center. We also provide outpatient psychiatric services in a clinic across the street from the hospital. If a physician has an interest in practicing a specialty one day per week, this could be done at the outpatient facility.Weekend call coverage is 1 in 6 weekends and includes coverage from Friday at 5pm to Sunday at 5pm with patient rounding on-site on Saturday and Sunday. Weeknight and evening coverage is by telephone only one night a week and assigned weekends. The psychiatry staff relies on a strong crisis team doing intake in the Emergency Department.The hospital is licensed for 188 beds. Service area 85,000.Candidate must be board certified or board eligible.
