A Weekend Writer is a content creator who writes articles, news stories, or blog posts primarily on weekends. This role is common in media outlets, online publications, and websites that require fresh content over the weekend. Responsibilities typically include researching topics, writing and editing articles, and meeting deadlines. Weekend Writers may work remotely or in-house and often cover breaking news, entertainment, lifestyle, or other timely topics.

What are the typical responsibilities and workflow for a weekend writer?

As a Weekend Writer, your main responsibilities usually include producing articles, blog posts, or other written content on a regular weekend schedule, often for news or lifestyle websites. You may be tasked with pitching story ideas, conducting research, and editing your own or others' work before publication. Collaboration with editors or a remote content team is common to ensure timely and accurate publication. Deadlines can be tight during weekends, so strong organizational skills and self-motivation are important. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy independent work and can manage time effectively while still being part of a virtual or hybrid editorial team.

  • Participate in proposal kick-off and planning sessions.
  • Prepare and edit project references, resumes, management plans, and other sections that demonstrate experience and execution capability.
  • Contribute to maintaining proposal content libraries, ensuring narratives remain accurate, current, and aligned with company standards.
  • Use proposal management tools, content repositories, and AI-assisted systems to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Review RFP and RFQ requirements, ensure full compliance, and contribute to strategic, results-driven responses that strengthen competitive positioning and support higher win rates.
  • Adapt technical material for alternate uses such as white papers, marketing materials, or methodology statements.
  • Collaborate with proposal teams, designers, and document controllers to deliver polished, on-brand submissions on schedule.
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in proposal writing or coordination for engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong writing, editing, and quality assurance skills with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and persuasive messaging.

  • Ability to interpret technical information (tunnels, bridges, highways, transit, water infrastructure) and communicate it clearly to varied audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, managing priorities and meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
