Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Checking work order, properly select processed material checking for weight, alloy, size and quality.
  • Operate power driven slitter to slit coils into one or more strands.
  • In process inspect of material to ensure proper quality is maintained.
  • Set-up and adjust slitter tooling to ensure dimensional tolerances are met.
  • Run material according to specifications of work order.
  • Check slit strands to ensure customer quality requirements are met.
  • Properly identify all slit material and complete all documentation.
  • May require the repair of minor mechanical problems.
  • Group completed product together by work order in designated area.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and neat fashion.
  • Math aptitude/setup calculations testing
  • Follow ALL safety protocols for the company
  • Expected to be able to handle tasks/cross-train to help the company meet its goals.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Education and/or experience – High School degree or equivalent preferred. Prior experience or training in a related field or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Math – Must be able to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions and decimals. Knowledge of the Standard/Imperial measuring system is required, and knowledge of the metric system is a plus.
  • Understanding and use of basic measuring instruments required; micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure is preferred.
