ETC is looking for a Welder to join our team in Mazomanie!
In this role, you'll bring your hands-on welding experience-especially with MIG and stick processes-to support the fabrication of high-quality structural assemblies. You'll read and interpret blueprints, assemble and weld parts, and ensure all finished work meets required structural and certification standards.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in structural welding, as you'll be working on load-bearing assemblies and critical lifting equipment where precision and quality are essential.

Representative Responsibilities:
• Fabricates, welds, grinds, cuts, and erects structural metal frames to standards and specifications
• Operates cranes to move structural frames and other materials around the shop
• Plans procedures and selects tools and materials to follow work order to completion
• Sets-up welders for MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core
• Fabricates product by cutting and welding metals
• Ensures parts are fabricated to print specifications
• Maintains expected productivity output levels and completes assignments as scheduled
• Completes paperwork correctly, labels parts per order and forwards the product to the next station
• Follows production priorities
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions irregularities, and continuing needs
• Ensures product quality meets standards by frequently checking work
• Ensures quality meets standards by checking measurement and parts are welded to meet the correct orientation
• Selects the appropriate welding application and performs visual quality checks to ensure welding reflects correct penetration
• Applies specified finish through use of proper grinding techniques.
• Follows ISO procedures
• Uses appropriate documentation, e.g., ECRs and NCMRs, to identify and communicate issues
• Adheres to safety standards at all times
• Ensures that safe methods and practices are used
• Abides by safety procedures, work practice controls, and OSHA guidelines
• Wears personal protective equipment when required
• Informs management of any safety concerns when they arise
• Learns new tasks, procedures and assemblies as needed
• Listens to, understands and follow instructions while learning new assignments
• Recognizes unusual circumstances and asks intelligent questions when necessary
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment
• Ensures after task is completed, floor is swept and tools are returned to designated area
• Maintains tools regularly
• Ensures that machines are cleaned and maintained as scheduled
• Informs manager or team lead of supply needs
• Shuts welder and gas off at the end of each shift
• Other duties as assigned
• Completes special projects and requests in a timely and positive fashion
Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
• Formal one year technical diploma in welding or equivalent work experience
• 3 years production welding experience, structural welding experience preferred
• Proven competency to be able to be certified in:
• AWS D1.1 3G SMAW Certification
• AWS D1.1 1G FCAW Certification
• AWS D1.1-08 GMAW Certification
• Knowledge of metalwork theory
• Knowledge of various welding techniques (TIG, MIG, Stick, Flux Core) and able to adjust equipment to its proper setting
• Strong welding skills
• Knowledge of finish grinding with various types of grinders
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Basic ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids
• Good organizational skills
• Good math skills
• Basic English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, etc.
• Proven ability to understand instructions and follow directions
• Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools
• Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed
• Demonstrated ability to effectively implement and respond to change
• Able to work at a fast paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes and other appropriate protective equipment
