We seek talented individuals to be part of "Where Green is Going" as we deliver the most innovative, forward-thinking recycling and waste management solutions, enabling our customers to become leaders in recycling/waste programs for their industries.Federal Recycling is seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment failures, and repair trailers, forklifts, loaders, balers, and other plant equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, welding and fabrication experience, and the ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. This is a hands-on position that plays a critical role in maintaining safe, reliable equipment, minimizing downtime, and supporting efficient plant operations.ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance on forklifts, loaders, balers, trailers, conveyors, and other plant equipment.Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment failures and recommend appropriate repair solutions to minimize equipment downtime.Conduct routine safety inspections and identify equipment requiring repair.Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including replacing hoses, fittings, cylinders, and related components.Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and electrical connections.Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers and heavy equipment.Perform MIG, stick, and general welding and fabrication repairs on trailers, containers, frames, and structural components.Repair and replace trailer floors, doors, frames, brakes, suspension, bearings, and other mechanical components.Safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic equipment.Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements.Assist with other maintenance duties and plant projects as assigned to support facility operations. QualificationsStrong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.Welding and metal fabrication proficiency.Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.Strong attention to safety and quality workmanship.Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and manage multiple tasks.Dependable with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Education / ExperiencePrevious experience as an Industrial Mechanic, Trailer Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar role preferred.Strong welding and fabrication experience (MIG and Stick welding preferred).Experience repairing hydraulic systems and replacing hydraulic hoses.Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and performing wiring repairs.Knowledge of trailer brakes, suspension, bearings, and mechanical systems.Valid driver's license preferred.Recycling, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or heavy equipment experience is a plus.Work ScheduleStandard schedule is Monday through Friday. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production schedules, equipment repairs, and operational needs.Physical DemandsRegularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working underneath equipment.Work is performed in a non-climate-controlled industrial environment with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, grease, and moving equipment.Must be comfortable working around forklifts, loaders, trailers, balers, conveyors, and other heavy industrial machinery.Equal Opportunity EmployerFederal Recycling is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
