HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Non-Craft Welder. 

Summary
At HWI our Craft Welders' support HWI's mission and vision to drive industry performance and deliver quality results. This role is the core of our operations success.  The Non Craft Welder is responsible for maintaining a clean & safe work environment as well as maintaining professional working relationships with co-workers. Job duties include all welding duties throughout the shop.


Requirements 

  • Actively demonstrates and promotes safety and a safe work environment and holds their team accountable to drive a best in industry safety culture.
  • Audits and observes to ensure our product meets or exceeds quality standards. Owns Quality Control compliance for their assigned working area.
  • Responsible for all welding duties throughout the shop utilizing types of welders including but not limited to MIG welders, arc welders and plasma cutting torches to perform all aspects of welding duties both within the welding shop and throughout the
  • factory on an as needed basis.
  • Welds are typically performed using the Flux Core Arc Welding method and may be required to weld using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding method. Must successfully be able to weld component positions (2G-Horizontal, 3G-Verticle, 4G-Overhead). 
  • Will be required to continue to demonstrate his/her ability to apply welds in a satisfactory form in flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead positions in accordance with National Standards (ASME and AWS) as required.
  • Performs minor preventative maintenance on equipment and/or partners with maintenance to solve equipment changes and problems.
  • Actively participates in report out and production meetings.
  • Ability to effectively receive and decipher both ambiguous and direct/detailed instructions, provides innovative solutions, and both work independently or as a team member.
  • Requires general supervision, usually operating alone using standard procedures and requesting guidance when in doubt.
  • May at times be required to perform some basic assembly tasks


    Requirements

    • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Ability to demonstrate necessary welding capability as outlined in the requirements
    • Understanding of basic safety/OSHA standards.
    • Some mechanical aptitude.
    • Some manufacturing experience helpful.
    • Requires working knowledge in the use and basic repair of welding, carbon arc gouging and oxy-fuel cutting equipment. Including the proper set-up and basic maintenance of welding machines and wire feeders including replacement of the wire liner as needed. 
    • May also operate an oxygen lance when required.

    Physical and Environmental Requirements

    • Physical Activity:  Welders are required to tolerate constant holding and grasping with both hands for extended periods of time, attaining and holding awkward positions for extended periods of time.  Welders may walk across uneven surfaces and uneven steps throughout the factory on an occasional-frequent basis depending upon the job.
    • Lifting:  Requires lifting varies greatly from and requires ability to lift 60 lbs, push up to 100 lbs and pull up to 80 lbs.
    • Vision:  Requires accurate close, distance, color and peripheral vision, including the ability to adjust focus and use peripheral vision.
    • Environment:  Requires more than 2/3 of the time working near moving mechanical parts, and being exposed to fumes, airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions; 1/3 to 2/3 of the time in wet or humid conditions, in extreme heat or cold, and exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; and less than 1/3 of the time in an office setting, in high places, at risk of electrical shock and near vibration.
    • Noise:  Requires working in very loud conditions (over 85 decibels).
