Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs all fabrication duties required to produce a quality product based on the shop drawings under direction of the Shop Manager.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reads and comprehends drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Fabricates and manufactures metal parts for later assembly
  • Produces strong, clean welds
  • Read and comprehend measurements
  • Test output to ensure strength and tolerance of welds
  • Checks finished work to ensure it adheres to the drawing
  • Follows strict safety standards and regulations including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Strives to keep and maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Follow shop Manager’s directions and expectations for each specific task assigned
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as required and assigned
REQUIRED CAPABILITIES

Welder Specific

  • Must possess the physical strength and endurance to lift, carry, pull, push and place items and materials weighing up to 70 pounds repetitively throughout the working day
  • Must possess good balance and hand-eye coordination
  • Must be capable of being extremely detail oriented
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, turn, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach and grasp, often for extended periods of time
  • Must be capable of following directions and working with others
  • Willing to work overtime, including nights and weekends, when necessary
  • Must be able to understand and adhere to company safety protocols
  • Must be punctual and have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing and background check
  • Must maintain ability to work in a drug-free environment
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Most of the work completed is in the shop; however, some travel to job sites may be required.
  • Employee must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy and OSHA regulations while at work
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Prior experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment required.
  • Familiarity with common welding tools and procedures including MIG welding, cutting, grinding, and other fabrication tasks is required. TIG or stick welding experience is a plus.
  • Blueprint reading and knowledge of common welding symbols
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Professional certifications are a plus
