Job description

Job Type:    Full Time, Permanent 
Wage:          $24.00/hourly
Shift Available:  Weekend Day and Night Shifts 4 10 hour days,
Training Monday and Tuesday 8:00-4:30pm your first week

IEM Canada is seeking experienced and hard-working individuals to join our team as Metal Fabricator.

Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret and follow basic diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other instructions or procedures to fabricate quality metal parts.
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as press brakes, CNC punch press, shears, cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or prepare metal parts for production.
  • Use multiple measuring devices such as rulers, micrometers, calipers tee square, machinist square and tape measure to accurately and precisely perform work.
  • Perform metal corrections such as grinding, buffing, polishing and deburring.
  • Comply with all safety, quality work rules, guidelines and regulations.
  • Set up, test, operate and maintain fabrication tools and equipment.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of problems, progress and suggestions in a timely manner.
  • Always maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Keep red-lines and mark ups of any drawing changes required during manufacturing and turn into supervisor upon their request.
  • Perform other duties which may be required by the supervisor.

Qualified candidates must possess:

  • At least 2 years of experience using CNC fabricating machines (Experience with Amada Preferred)
  • Safely use material handling equipment such as rolling carts and pallet jacks (Valid Forklift license is preferred)
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently bend, squat, crawl and climb
  • Ability to work quickly with your hands while maintaining accuracy and high quality
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to learn
  • Must be a team player

--> Physical Demands:

  • Lifting: Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Activities: Sitting – 5% Walking/Standing – 95%
  • Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and climb.
  • Vision: Long periods of close work on small fonts and fine print on drawings and ability to see small or detailed items.

--> Mental Demands: Interpret, analyze, research and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

--> Environment: Shop/warehouse. Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
