Job description

Associate Attorney โ€“ Environmental & Water Law

Join a growing and exciting environmental and water law practice in Sacramento that focuses on public agencies, agricultural interests, and tribal rights for advisory, transactional, and litigation services.

Specific skills sought are:

  1. At least three years of experience with environmental and/or water law matters for public and/or private clients;
  2. Experience with public sector clients such as cities, counties, and special districts is preferred with demonstrable knowledge of the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Conflicts of Interests;
  3. Experience with assisting in preparation of discovery and pleadings for litigation or adversarial proceedings at state administrative agencies such as the State Water Resources Control Board;
  4. Excellent legal research and analysis skills and demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive research on specific timelines;
  5. Excellent writing skills ranging from client memorandums to law and motion work in adversarial proceedings;
  6. Ability to handle and manage, with limited supervision and oversight, preparing and responding to written discovery;
  7. Ability to interface with clients and convey a level of professionalism and competence in terms of both the legal and strategic issues in environmental and/or labor matters;
  8. Willingness to take ownership of a matter and ability to develop a plan and/or course of action;
  9. Personal attributes strongly preferred are a self-starter with excellent follow-through and communication skills; hard worker; impeccable judgment; and an entrepreneurial spirit.
