Responsibilities:
IRR is seeking a Paralegal Manager to oversee the USCIS team within our affirmative immigration legal services program. This role supervises the preparation, review, and filing of family-based and humanitarian immigration matters, including consular processing and USCIS petitions from intake through completion, such as VAWA (I-360), T Visas, U Visas, I-485, I-130, N-400, I-751, I-601, I-131, and related forms.
Key responsibilities include supervising and developing paralegals and support staff, ensuring high-quality legal work, client service excellence, and operational efficiency. The Paralegal Manager will conduct regular one-on-one meetings, review casework for quality control, and support staff professional development.
This position also oversees data management, contract compliance, and grant billing, and coordinates legal consultations and clinics, including off-site and weekend events. Additional duties include developing and delivering training, supporting DOJ accreditation and program compliance, and implementing process improvements to increase program efficiency. The role is an active member of the IRR management team and performs other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time, in-office position and requires occasional weekend availability to support legal clinics and community events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate and/or a minimum of five (5) years of relevant legal experience are strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in affirmative immigration legal services within a nonprofit organization and/or law firm preferred.
- Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or interns required.
- Experience with Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases strongly preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to take initiative and develop effective systems and programs required.
- Commitment to social justice and advocacy for immigrant communities required.
