What is a weekend videographer?

Weekend videographers are professionals who specialize in filming video content primarily during weekends. They often cover events such as weddings, parties, sports games, or corporate functions that occur outside of the typical workweek. These videographers are skilled in using cameras and editing software to capture and produce high-quality videos tailored to their clients' needs. Their flexible schedules make them ideal for clients who need coverage on Saturdays and Sundays. Many weekend videographers work freelance or as part of media production teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend videographer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Videographer, you need proficiency in video recording, editing, and storytelling, often backed by experience or formal training in videography or multimedia production. Familiarity with cameras, lighting equipment, audio gear, and editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro is essential. Creativity, flexibility, and strong time management skills help you adapt to different shooting environments and client needs. These skills ensure the production of high-quality, engaging videos that meet both technical standards and client expectations.

What are some common challenges weekend videographers face when covering events, and how can they be managed?

Weekend Videographers often encounter fast-paced environments, unpredictable lighting, and the need to capture high-quality footage on tight schedules. Being prepared with backup equipment, scouting event locations in advance, and maintaining clear communication with clients and team members can help manage these challenges. Flexibility and quick problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to adapt to last-minute changes or unexpected occurrences during weekend events.

What is the difference between Weekend Videographer vs Freelance Videographer?

AspectWeekend VideographerFreelance Videographer
CredentialsBasic video production skills, sometimes with specific event experienceSimilar skills, often with a portfolio and client management experience
Work EnvironmentPrimarily on weekends, often at events like weddings or partiesFlexible, varies by project, can include events, corporate videos, or personal projects

Job description

Build the Path Forward

At Path Robotics, we're building the future of embodied intelligence. Our AI-driven systems enable robots to adapt, learn, and perform in the real world closing the skilled labor gap and transforming industries. We go beyond traditional methods, combining perception, reasoning, and control to deliver field-ready AI that is risk-aware, reliable, and continuously improving through real-world use.

Big, hard problems are our everyday work, and our team of intelligent, humble, and driven people make the impossible possible together.

We are seeking an experienced Photographer / Videographer to own the photography and video that show the world what autonomous welding actually looks like - on our factory floor, at customer sites, at trade shows, and in the field. The ideal candidate runs shoots end to end: scoping and planning, shooting, editing, color grading, and delivering finished assets, then cutting that footage down into the short-form pieces that carry campaigns on social, in sales conversations, and on the website. This is a role for someone who wants to shoot hard subject matter well, because welding is difficult to film - extreme dynamic range, moving robots, tight cells, and active safety constraints - and getting it right is the job. You will work directly with the Head of Marketing and alongside our designers, who handle static and print creative, owning Path's visual record of a category being defined in real time.

We are hiring for craft first and we are open on level. If you bring the depth to steward Path's brand and set creative direction beyond your own shoots, there is room in this role to take that on, but the person we hire will still be the one behind the camera and in the edit. If your strengths lean toward design as much as production, look at our Senior Graphic Designer and Creative Content Producer postings as well; we read every application against all three.

What You'll Do
  • Capture high-quality photo and video across Path's core marketing initiatives - product, people, customers, and environment.
  • Lead shoots at events, customer locations, and for company initiatives, including scoping, shot lists, and on-site logistics.
  • Direct non-professional subjects (engineers, operators, executives) and get natural results.
  • Work safely and efficiently in active manufacturing environments alongside operations teams.
  • Edit, color grade, and mix audio for final deliverables optimized for web, print, and social.
  • Produce short-form cutdowns, reels, GIFs, and vertical variants from longer-form source footage.
  • Develop motion graphics, lower thirds, and light VFX to support video storytelling.
  • Deliver post-event highlight videos and curated photo sets ready for press, web, and social.
  • Maintain an organized, well-tagged media library in the company drive.
  • Manage footage backup, archival, and version control so past shoots stay usable.
  • Set the visual and narrative direction for how Path shows its work on film, and bring recommendations on what we should be shooting, not only how to shoot it.
  • Grow into brand stewardship and creative direction across marketing if you have the depth for it - this role scales with the person in it.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years shooting and editing professionally in a marketing, agency, or in-house role - or equivalent demonstrated ability. We weigh the reel more heavily than the year count.
  • A track record of running shoots as the lead - you set the plan, make the calls on site, and own the final cut.
  • Strong command of Premiere Pro or Final Cut, plus color grading (DaVinci Resolve or Lumetri) and After Effects.
  • Solid camera and lighting fundamentals: you can light a dark factory cell and expose for a welding arc without blowing the frame.
  • Audio capture competence - lav and shotgun mic setups for interviews on a loud floor.
  • Comfort operating independently: you scope your own shoots and ship without heavy oversight.
  • Willingness to work in an active manufacturing environment and follow all site safety requirements.
  • Availability to travel for trade shows, customer visits, and field installations (roughly 15-25%).
  • Experience shooting industrial, manufacturing, or technical subject matter is a plus.
  • Drone experience and a current Part 107 certification are a plus.
  • Multi-cam or live event production experience is a plus.
  • 3D, CAD visualization, or product animation skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with brand systems and working within established visual standards is a plus.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Daily free lunch to keep you fueled and connected with the team
  • Flexible PTO so you can take the time you need, when you need it
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 6 weeks fully paid parental leave, plus an additional 6-8 weeks for birthing parents (12-14 weeks total)
  • 401(k) retirement plan through Empower
  • Generous employee referral bonuses-help us grow our team!
