Job description

Jiffy is a technology-driven leader in the promotional product blank apparel space, empowering crafters and small businesses through digital infrastructure, automation, and services. As we expand our platform to support the creator economy, we are seeking a Product Quality Engineer specializing in digital printing to drive excellence across our custom apparel catalog and distributed printer network.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of color accuracy, durability, and technical quality for our direct-to-film printing operations. You will collaborate with Operations, Supplier Management, and Product teams, acting as the subject matter expert for color management and print quality. Your work will directly impact customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, helping Jiffy maintain its reputation for speed and reliability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own and manage Jiffy’s end-to-end product quality program for direct-to-film printing and custom apparel catalog.
  • Define, document, and enforce color management and technical standards across the printer network, including spectrophotometric measurement, ICC profiling, RIP software configuration, and G7 calibration initiatives.
  • Establish hue-level standards and reference materials; serve as internal SME on CMYK processing, soft proofing, gamut mapping, and device-link profiles.
  • Set and maintain product quality specifications and measurable acceptance criteria for color accuracy, durability, substrates, file preparation, and press-ready requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to Operations, Supplier Management, and Product teams; set quality gates for new product launches.
  • Manage quality performance across a distributed fleet of third-party print shops by tracking claims, complaints, and defects; conduct remote and on-site audits; maintain a quality health scorecard; drive corrective actions.
  • Set admission standards and evaluation framework for onboarding new printers; conduct hands-on evaluations and document baselines.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using claims, NPS, audit, and output data; build dashboards with analytics; create training materials, SOPs, and reference guides; improve pre-press workflows to reduce downstream issues.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts, Color Science, Print Technology, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in print quality engineering, color management, or prepress
  • Hands-on expertise with ICC profiling workflows and spectrophotometric measurement for print color management
  • Significant hands-on experience with professional RIP software with deep expertise in at least one (e.g., Onyx, NeoStampa, Print Factory)
  • Expert knowledge of color space management for production printing (sRGB, Adobe RGB, CMYK, device-link profiles, gamut mapping, soft proofing)
  • Experience managing quality programs across a large distributed network of print partners, including audits, defect/claims tracking, and corrective actions
  • Experience defining and maintaining formal product specifications and measurable quality acceptance criteria for printed products
  • Experience explaining print/color management technical concepts to both shop-floor operators and executive stakeholders
  • Already authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to travel approximately 40% for work
  • Preferred location is Irvine CA with the ability to work hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week in-office
  • Up to 50% travel may be required for the role
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with a color quality monitoring platform (e.g., ChromaChecker)
  • Hands-on experience with direct-to-film (DTF) printing or closely related processes such as UV DTF, sublimation, or screen printing
  • G7 Professional Certification
