The Site Engineer role is critical to our ministry as our facilities provide a home for our clients to recover and a workplace for our staff to focus on providing hope for each person we serve.
Main Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
Flexibility as needed
Rotating on-call schedule for after hours
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and operational campus environment through preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and facility improvement projects while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, fire codes, life safety standards, and organizational safety procedures.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, fire alarm systems, security systems, exterior building components, and other facility infrastructure.
  • Perform general maintenance and repair work including carpentry, drywall, painting, roofing, doors, locks, windows, lighting, outlets, framing, and related building components.
  • Manage, document, and close work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, inspections, and daily activity reports through the maintenance management system, including accurate notes, before/after photos, material usage, vendor activity, and follow-up needs.
  • Complete and submit detailed daily work logs documenting completed work orders, preventive maintenance activities, projects, vendor interactions, outstanding issues, and operational updates.
  • Monitor and maintain campus security and life safety systems, ensuring proper functionality and maintaining required clearances around electrical panels, mechanical equipment, and emergency egress pathways.
  • Respond promptly to facility emergencies and urgent maintenance requests including power outages, HVAC failures, water leaks, security concerns, and after-hours or weekend emergency calls as needed.
  • Coordinate and oversee external vendors and contractors for repairs, maintenance, and improvement projects, serving as the on-site contact to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and within scope and budget expectations.
  • Assist the Facilities Director with vendor coordination, invoice review and follow-up, budget support, and project planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Campus Administrators and internal teams to prioritize repairs, coordinate projects, communicate updates, and support daily campus operations.
  • Procure, organize, and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, supplies, replacement parts, maintenance shops, carts, and storage areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Support campus operations through landscaping, moving furniture or large items, transporting supplies, and operating box trucks or other fleet vehicles as needed.

Position Requirements:
  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience in commercial maintenance 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in commercial maintenance, facilities operations, or general construction environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial maintenance systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting/coatings, low-voltage systems, exterior envelope systems, and general building maintenance.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial building systems and equipment.
  • Experience in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs is strongly preferred.
  • General knowledge of commercial HVAC systems is highly preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, box trucks, and other fleet vehicles.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff, clients, volunteers, vendors, and visitors.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work orders and projects, perform quality checks, and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical specifications, and maintenance documentation.
  • Experience using work order or maintenance management software preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, email communication, calendars, and document uploads.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation, daily reports, and project updates.

CERTIFICATION OR LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to pass MVR and DOT certification requirements to operate Atlanta Mission box trucks.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, reach, push, and pull for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, rooftops, and confined spaces as needed.
  • Ability to communicate accurate information and safely perform physical maintenance activities.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regular exposure to indoor and outdoor work environments, including varying weather conditions.
  • Moderate exposure to construction-related noise and maintenance equipment.
  • Medium exposure risk to communicable diseases as defined by OSHA.

SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must wear Atlanta Mission-issued uniforms and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing job duties. Uniforms must be maintained in a clean and professional manner.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the metro Atlanta area to our various locations.
  • Must live within 30 minutes of job site location (165 Ivan Allen Jr Blvd NW Atlanta, GA 30313).
