TheUnderwriteris responsible forreviewing, analyzing, evaluating, quoting, declining, and nonrenewing new and renewal business. This individualis responsible formakingdecisions that adhere to the company's underwriting criteria and support organizational growth andobjectives.In addition, they will build strong agency relationships, maketimelyand appropriate decisions, and provide excellent service to allcustomers.


What You Will Do As A Underwriter:

  • Manageand develop a homeowner book of business within an assigned territory to meet organizationalobjectivesfor growth, retention, and profitability.

  • Maintain an understanding of State guidelines andStatespecificforms.

  • Use established practices, procedures, and authority levels tomodify, renew, and write new homeowner's policies.

  • Use research and analysis to develop practical underwriting solutions consistent with organizationalobjectives.

  • Evaluate risk characteristics and analyze historic and potential account performance to make sound decisions.

  • Understand personallinesproducts, coverages, and ratingmethodology.

  • Build andmaintainstrong agency relationships,including management of large, highvolume agency partners.

  • Regularly communicate with team members, other internal departments, and external partners.

  • Identifyand analyze accounts and make sound underwriting decisions.

  • Make decisions independently within assigned authority levels.

  • Make decisions with efficiency, speed, and accuracy to meet department service standards.

  • Execute policies and procedures within the assigned authority.

  • Consistently act according to customer experience standards: respond quickly,maintaina positive attitude, build rapport, anddemonstrateempathy.

  • Recommend solutions to Senior Underwriters or the Underwriting Manager for risks outside of authority.

  • Assistwith carrier book roll opportunities, supporting agents in transitioning business efficiently and compliantly.

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Pay Range*:$60,000 - $85,000 Annually

*Please know your actual pay at Porch will reflect a number of factors among which are your work experience and skillsets, job-related knowledge, alignment with market and our Porch employees, as well as your geographic location.
