Position Description
  • Make sure the preparation of the area in which the pipe will lay is accurately graded and compacted
  • Supervise equipment Operators in the placement of pipe
  • Direct equipment Operators with hand signals
  • Backfill around pipe using hand tools
  • Verify the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench.
  • Knowledge of the assembly and installation of valves, fittings, pipe and boxes composed of metal, PVC, ductile and concrete
  • Test pipes for leakage.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of various types of underground pipe
  • Install or repair sanitary or stormwater sewer structures or pipe systems
  • Dig trenches to desired or required depths, if necessary, by hand or using trenching equipment
  • Be able to understand written or verbal instructions and plans to complete project
  • Reliable attendance - Company truck will be provided

Position Requirements
Position Requirements Required Skills/Abilities
  • Skilled tradesman who will be responsible for the supervision of grading trenches, assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for water, storm pipes, sanitary sewers, manholes, boxes, and water mains.
  • Position requires thorough knowledge of the set-up and proper use of pipe lasers and transits to shoot grade
  • Position requires thorough knowledge of all water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer construction means and methods.
  • Ability to read and understands blueprints, plans and specifications

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years job-related experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time. carry at least 30 pounds
  • Ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces
  • Be able to work in extreme weather conditions, hot and cold weather.
