Job description

Xylem Tree Care is hiring for Groundspersons across Greensboro/Raleigh, NC. The Groundsperson supports the crew by performing from the ground. The Groundsperson observes all safety rules to guarantee a clean and safe work zone. This is a full-time role with benefits. Pay range is $19-$26 an hour.

  • Always follow and help enforce safe practice and rules.
  • Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
  • Define staging areas.
  • Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
  • Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
  • Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
  • Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
  • Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
  • Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
  • Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
  • Valid Driver's license required. CDL preferred.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
