Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor of Grounds with ensuring the proper maintenance of campus grounds, roadways, and parking areas to provide a safe, healthy, and attractive environment. The incumbent is also responsible for providing support with the daily departmental operations, including Event Services setups, FPC office/staff relocations, and the refuse and recycling program. The Assistant Supervisor serves in the supervisor's role during the supervisor's absence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with the departmental scheduling, supervision, motivation, and documentation of the daily operations of Grounds personnel.
Share oversight of the landscaping operations to include establishing and maintaining flowerbeds, shrubbery, and trees; including soil preparation, planting, thinning, mulching, watering, pruning, leaf removal, and weeding as needed. Schedule tree planting and removal as needed. Ensure grass mowing operations are completed on a timely schedule.
Ensure campus grounds are maintained in a neat and orderly manner by managing the collection of trash/recycling from the grounds and parking lots, monitoring bulk trash/recycling containers, and clearing leaves and debris from all steps and sidewalks.
Oversee the snow-removal hand crew operations, addressing exterior walkways, ramps, and stairways to ensure all campuses can be accessed safely.
Coordinate with Event Services to provide setup/breakdown of spaces for all events as requested, including flooring, staging, furniture, seating, decorations, etc.
In coordination with Facilities, Planning & Construction, move/assemble/relocate furniture and equipment as required for main campus and satellite facilities.
Coordinate the inspection/maintenance of all campus fire hydrants, storm drains and stormwater management ponds; ensure safe and efficient operation in accordance with all applicable governmental codes.
Direct oversight of the routine maintenance and repairs of all Grounds equipment.
The ability to operate forklifts, front-end loaders, tractors, bucket truck and other Grounds equipment as necessary to perform assigned duties.
Unload and/or relocate freight in support of various college departments.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED
Minimum of two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Fertilizer Applicator Certification, Pesticide Applicator Certification
