Job description

Summary
Drives diesel powered tractor feed trailer combination to transport and deliver feed to Daybreak layer and pullet flocks in all weather conditions, with safety being the first consideration. This is a Monday - Friday position, home every night.
Key Responsibilities
  • Applies knowledge of commercial driving regulations while transporting feed
  • Review and confirm day feed orders to ensure accuracy and optimize efficiency
  • Receive ingredients and keep accurate records of each load and lot number
  • Track ingredients used in each feed order
  • Take samples of feed and all ingredients
  • Must place stinger (unload auger) properly in access hole of feed bins to minimize any spillage.
  • Ensure correct feed ration goes into the designated finished feed bin for the corresponding flock.
  • Documents deliveries and prepares logs to meet company and DOT regulations.
  • Prepares and submits reports which indicate vehicle condition
  • Helps facilitate vehicle maintenance.
  • Rare weekend shift coverage as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Agricultural experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a feed mill is preferred.
  • Training in preventative maintenance programs, mechanical and electrical systems desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • CDL required
  • Good communication skills with a teamwork attitude are essential.
  • Self-motivation with a drive for safe quality feed is required.
  • Computer skills, Word, Excel required.
  • Mathematical ability is required.
  • Knowledge of production agriculture desirable.

Physical Demands
Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 60 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to climb up to 150ft by ladder.
Work Environment
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Employee may work in outside environment where temperatures vary seasonally. Clothing must be worn based on seasonal weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Certain areas may be loud enough to require ear protection. All personal protective equipment will be provided and required during certain working conditions and in certain areas. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places.
