Grocery Distributor seeking Logistics Dispatchers

• Schedule: Start time is 7:00 PM.
• Candidates must be flexible and available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

The client is looking for a reliable candidate who is open to working Saturdays and Sundays and willing to work up to 6 days per week during busy periods.

Responsibilities

• Assign contracted carriers to shipments under the direction of the Logistics Manager
• Follow carrier routing and load tendering instructions for truckload (FTL) shipments; handle less than truckload (LTL) as needed
• Maintain direct communication with carrier dispatch and drivers to coordinate shipment inquiries and status updates
• Confirm and process orders and bills of lading with accurate rates and information
• Use best judgment to manage last-minute shipment requests in the absence of the Logistics Manager
• Scan, file, and log daily paperwork; maintain detailed shipment records for brokerage purposes
• Send paperwork to the command center/back office to ensure timely carrier payments and shipper invoicing
• Provide timely communication to customers and internal personnel about shipment status
• Serve as point of contact for carrier dispatch departments, offering customer service and scheduling carrier pickups
• Document daily shipment details such as arrival, loading, and shipping times
• Create, update, and close out entries in the transportation management system
• Troubleshoot shipment issues and escalate to management as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have 2 years of experience related to traffic management
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations related to brokering, shipping, and receiving freight
• Complete knowledge of transportation documentation
• Ability to follow written instructions, communicate clearly, and write effectively at all levels
• Above average math comprehension and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Some college education preferred
• Experience brokering freight, ideally with a current customer base
• Brokerage, freight forwarding, and 3PL training preferred
• Familiarity with TruckMate, PC Miler, or other transportation management systems
• 2+ years of traffic management experience
