Clinical Nutritionist - Part Time Temporary - Includes Weekend Hours

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Nutritionist is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Duties of a TH Clinical Nutritionist may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement nutrition care plan based on assessment of nutritional needs, performance of nutrition-focused physical nutrition assessment, current nutrition-related problems.
  • Consult with physicians and other health-care professionals concerning patient's nutritional care with recommendations for appropriate nutritional therapy.
  • Counsel individuals and families in nutritional principles, meal planning, nutritional supplement or special products selection.
  • Refer patient to other professionals for proper financial assistance and psychosocial intervention.
  • Communicate nutritional problems, diet history and nutritional data through documentation to meet accreditation and regulatory agency's standards.
  • Participate in patient care meetings, other health care team rounds, conferences and assigned committees.
  • Provide in-depth nutritional evaluation and follow-up continuity care for assigned patients.
  • Develop educational materials to assist in patient education and management of diet related problems.
  • Mentor and supervise interns/students as assigned.
  • Attend professional meetings and continuing educational programs that are required for maintaining registration status.
  • Responsible to adhering to and demonstrating SBUH mission, vision and values.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:BS or BA Nutrition, Dietetics or related field, Registered Dietitian or BS or BA Nutrition, Dietetics or related field that has completed the ACEND accredited Dietetic Internship and passes the RD exam within 3 months of hire.Demonstrates ability to conduct a nutrition focused physical exam.

Preferred: Recent teaching hospital experience.Excellent communication skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $75,958 - $96,334 Base **Prorated back to .5 FTE

The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience.
