Role Overview
We are looking for an Engineering Technician to interact with management, operators, Kodak field service and customers to ensure customer satisfaction by facilitating development and sustaining engineering efforts as part of the Research and Development team.
As an Engineering Technician, you will focus on writing systems and press operational performance improvements for Kodak Ultra Stream customers. Work will include collecting and analyzing test data and periodically visiting customer sites to investigate escalated system operational issues. The Engineering Technician will coordinate with management, press operators, and Kodak field service to ensure equipment and processes are at optimum conditions to promote the reliability of Kodak writing systems and digital inkjet presses. Close interaction with other engineering disciplines is required due to the complexities of printing systems and presses consisting of fluid mechanics, electronics, software and materials handling. The Engineering Technician will have direct contact and develop vital working relationships with current customers and field service engineers, as well as R&D and sustaining engineers/technicians. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, supporting inkjet and overall press integration on Ultra Stream presses, operating and troubleshooting digital inkjet presses and conducting tests defined by engineering to improve overall system performance and reliability. Domestic travel to customer sites is expected to be between 5% - 15%.
Key Responsibilities:
• Become proficient at installing, operating and troubleshooting inkjet systems on Kodak UltraStream digital presses.
• Conduct various tests that will look at performance characteristics of the UltraStream Writing systems and how they interact with other Digital Inkjet Press subsystems such as the paper transport, dryers, web guides, web cleaners and pre and post equipment.
• On a daily basis be able to start up, operate and shutdown a Kodak digital printing press to facilitate R&D testing as needed.
• Able to effectively use Microsoft Office products such as Excel to record and analyze data collected during structured testing.
• Learn and effectively use Kodak internal proprietary data acquisition software and equipment to troubleshoot and improve system and sub-system level performance.
• Effectively and courteously working with other engineers, technicians and customers when in Dayton or at a customer site.
Requirements:
• 2-5 years in a technical contributor role or technical based customer service
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills, including the ability to write and edit technical procedures for system operations
• 15% domestic travel, including weekends may be required.
• Strong foundation in mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and fluidic technology
• Excellent customer empathy
• Ability to collect and communicate data to Engineering to assist in problem resolution and design improvements.
• Continuous inkjet knowledge, software knowledge, and web handling experience. (Desirable)
