Ticket Clerk

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Ticket Clerk, you will be one of the first to interact with any zoo guests on their visit, so you must exhibit a positive, guest service attitude at all time. You will perform a variety of tasks related to selling and taking admission tickets and other available Zoo entry packages at the zoo entrance.

As a Ticket Clerk, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in San Antonio. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Greet each guest as they approach the Zoo.
  • Provide awesome guest service.
  • Thank all guests for visiting the Zoo.
  • Perform work in various positions in the department such as: Greeter, Cashier, Ticket Taker, Surveys, and Member's check-in.
  • Accept payment for admission tickets and ensure sales are correct and free of errors.
  • Up-selling memberships, ticket options, wristbands and donations.
  • Provide information about daily activities at the zoo.
  • Account for funds and maintain necessary records.
  • Use standard office machines and money processing machines.
  • Perform basic housekeeping chores in the ticket sales booth and visitor entrance area.
  • Receive and account for purchased tickets from guests.
  • Make a visual check of entering guests to ensure prohibited items are not taken into the zoo.
  • Work with large groups of school children to safely and promptly process their admission.
  • Read, understand and follow cash handling policy and procedures.
  • Follow proper loss prevention procedures for wristband and Zoo Fun Passes.


Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, the San Antonio Zoo recommends the following skills/qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to use various types of electronic cash registers.
  • Six (6) months in a theme park or hospitality industry is preferred.
  • Six (6) months of cash register/cash-handling experience in a retail operation is preferred.
  • Six (6) months in the customer services industry is preferred.
  • Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.
  • We enjoy year-round operation for all staff and must be available day, nights, holidays, weekends, and occasional special after-hour assignments.
