They help provide medical care to athletes at practices, games, and events, including first aid, injury assessment, and rehabilitation support. Their duties typically include preparing supplies, taping athletes, assisting with treatments, and documenting injuries under supervision. Weekend shifts are common due to the high volume of athletic events during those times. This role offers valuable hands-on experience for students pursuing careers in sports medicine or athletic training.

Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies are vital to ensure athlete safety, effective injury management, and seamless coordination with coaches and medical staff during weekend events.

To prepare, applicants should develop strong time management skills, gain familiarity with basic injury assessment and first aid procedures, and practice effective communication with coaches, athletes, and supervising certified trainers. Being adaptable and proactive in a fast-paced environment will help ensure success in this role.
