Position Details: 

  • Job Title:Sterile Processing Technician III

  • Location:Riley Outpatient Surgery Center 
  • Schedule:Full Time
  • Hours: 10:00am - 6:30pm Monday through Friday (No weekends, nights, call, or holidays!)

What You Will Do: 

  • Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, stores and distributes equipment, supplies, instruments and endoscopes used in patient care.  
  • Assists area clinical staff by using specialized knowledge in surgical instrumentation and procedures to prepare for surgical cases.  
  • Provides technical guidance to others involved in the assembly of instrumentation and preparation of case carts.  
  • Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks.  
  • Acts as a resource or mentor to colleagues with less experience. 

Candidates will only be considered who have 2 active CRCST/CSPDT/CFER national certificates and/or are a Certified Surgical Technologist. No provisional certifications will be accepted. 

What You Will Need: 

 High School Diploma or GED required.
 Requires one national certification (CRCST,CSPDT,CFER or CST) and a second national certification related to central service or sterile processing (Examples: CIS; CSIP; CFER; CST; CHMM; CHL).
 Requires 24 CE credits annually that focus on information and advancement related to the CS field and be of a technical nature.
 Must maintain current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA if in a hybrid OR/SPD role.
 May require Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
 Requires demonstration of expert knowledge and skills identified as necessary to function as a Tech III.
 Requires knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
 Requires advanced preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching.
 Requires basic computer skills.
 Strong knowledge of Endo instrumentation function and maintenance is preferred.
Requires some relevant experience in a healthcare environment.
