Job description

Our Client, is currently seeking a motivated and skilled Production Technician to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. In this role you will be responsible for assembly, and handling of Spacecraft, and Spacecraft Components, in various building phases.


*Note: Strict US Citizenship required (no Green Cards or visas per ITAR/EAR regulations for space hardware).


Employment Type: 1-year contract (possible extension/conversion)


Shifts

Weekend Day Shift (Fri-Mon, 4:30am-2:30pm)

Weekday Day shift (Mon-Fri, 6am-2:30pm)

Weekday Swing Shift (Mon-Fri, 2:30pm-11pm)

Weekday Grave Shift (Mon-Fri, 7:30pm-6am)


Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly and test of communications satellites and ground support equipment.
  • Assist Mechanical Vehicle Engineers (MVE's) in the development of assembly & test processes, methods, sequences, assembly aids and test setups.
  • Assembly & installation of active & passive "flight" components per engineering drawings, specifications & procedures - structural parts & assemblies, RF waveguides, electronic boxes, coax cables, harnesses, antennas & thermal blankets.
  • Maintain paperwork- ASIs, rework shop orders, component installation logs, mate/demate logs, & task logs.
  • Spacecraft handling.
  • Assembly & checkout of ground support equipment.
  • Knowledge of test equipment set up and support.
  • Operate cranes, man lifts, tugs, and handling equipment.


Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • High School diploma.
  • 3 Years related work experience.
  • Accommodate shift work. Some mandatory overtime is required.
  • Strength and flexibility to work on ladders up to 18 feet high, platforms and man lift to 40 feet high.
  • Must be able to work lying flat on their chest on an extended platform for most of the shift. Able to work in confined spaces such as spacecraft interior, thermal vacuum and acoustic chamber.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Able to become certified in ESD awareness, Contamination Control, Flight Hardware Handling, DC Connector Mate/Demate, Adhesive Bonding, Thermal Compound Bonding, and Component Torquing.
  • Must be able to understand and adhere to safety requirements i.e. safety glasses, safety shoes, ear protection, fall protection, and other requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior personnel.


Preferred Requirements

  • A&P certification or equivalent work history
