Weekend Solar Installers are professionals who install solar panel systems on residential or commercial properties specifically during weekends. They are often part-time workers or contractors, helping meet the increased demand for solar installations outside regular business hours. Their responsibilities include assembling, mounting, and securing solar panels, ensuring correct wiring, and following safety standards. This role is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work schedules while contributing to renewable energy efforts.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a weekend solar installer?

To thrive as a Weekend Solar Installer, you need fundamental knowledge of electrical systems, roofing, and safety protocols, often supported by a high school diploma and on-the-job training or relevant certifications. Familiarity with power tools, solar panel mounting systems, and the ability to interpret blueprints are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective teamwork set top installers apart. These skills ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality solar installations that meet industry standards and customer expectations.

Solar Installer
Full-Time | Field-Based
About This Role
SpartanX is seeking experienced Solar Installers to join our residential field operations team.
This is a hands-on role for installers who take pride in clean, efficient work and know how to move a project forward without sacrificing safety or quality. You'll work as part of a field crew installing residential solar systems while helping ensure every project meets SpartanX standards from arrival through completion.
We're looking for people with solid construction or solar experience who are comfortable working on rooftops, understand the importance of doing things right the first time, and can keep pace in a production-driven environment.
What You'll Do
  • Install residential rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems
  • Layout and install racking, modules, attachments, flashing, and related system components
  • Safely perform roof penetrations, sealing, and weatherproofing
  • Read and follow site plans, layouts, and project documentation
  • Assist with system wiring and electrical components within the scope of the position
  • Identify roof, structural, equipment, or installation concerns and communicate them to field leadership
  • Complete installations according to project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards
  • Maintain accurate project photos and completion documentation
  • Safely operate ladders, hand tools, power tools, and fall-protection equipment
  • Maintain an organized and safe job site throughout installation
  • Work closely with Electricians, Crew Leads, and Field Operations to complete projects efficiently
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners while onsite

What We're Looking For
  • Previous solar installation, roofing, electrical, or residential construction experience preferred
  • Residential solar installation experience strongly preferred
  • Comfortable working on rooftops and ladders for extended periods
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
  • Understanding of basic roofing practices and proper weatherproofing techniques
  • Ability to read basic plans, layouts, measurements, and project documentation
  • Strong work ethic and ability to maintain productivity throughout the workday
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a field crew
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move solar modules, equipment, and materials

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous residential solar installation experience
  • Roofing or residential construction background
  • Electrical experience
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience with multiple residential solar mounting systems
  • Familiarity with battery storage installations

Schedule
Primarily Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday availability required.
What We Offer
  • Competitive performance-based compensation with strong earning potential
  • Consistent full-time residential solar work
  • Opportunity to increase earnings through strong productivity and performance
  • Training and ongoing skill development
  • Career advancement opportunities within SpartanX
  • Opportunity to develop additional solar, electrical, and field leadership skills
  • Supportive Field Operations team focused on safety, quality, and successful project completion

Why SpartanX?
Great solar installations require more than getting panels on a roof. They require a crew that understands quality, safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
If you're comfortable working with your hands, take pride in what you leave behind, and want an opportunity where strong performance can translate into stronger earning potential, we want to hear from you.
Solar Done Right.
