Rehabilitation/Speech Therapy - Speech Language Pathologist

SLP Location: Brockton, Massachusetts Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM x 5 Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension Pay Rate: $65 - $70/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a SLP for a temporary assignment in Brockton, Massachusetts. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a SLP:

• Partner with residents and other care providers to provide Speech Language Pathology services to maximize function and independence in daily activities • Perform evaluative and therapeutic procedures under the order of a physician or other accepted healthcare provider while observing precautions, indications, and contraindications • Provide evaluation and treatment in the areas of communication disorders and dysphagia, including modified barium swallow • Evaluate residents per department protocols and establish a therapeutic plan of care that includes functional long- and short-term goals, specifying frequency and duration of treatment and rehabilitation potential • Seek input from residents and primary caregivers regarding the therapeutic plan of care • Provide consultation to the referring physician and other members of the healthcare team regarding therapeutic and discharge needs of the resident • Attend all pertinent team meetings • Monitor and evaluate treatment effects and progress the treatment program toward functional goals established in the treatment plan of care • Modify the treatment plan of care as necessary • Document all evaluative and therapeutic interactions with residents per department procedures, ensuring documentation is accessible to others on the care team • Recommend and obtain appropriate communication/swallowing assistive devices for residents and ensure instruction is provided in their use • Provide appropriate education to residents or caregivers and document response to teaching • Understand Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement regulations • Maintain clinical knowledge, skills, and competence and share expertise with others • Provide in-services regarding clinical knowledge and skills to nursing and other departments • Actively assist with the development of new programs and services in Speech Therapy • Maintain clinical skills and competence through awareness of professional updates via membership in professional organizations and reading professional publications • Maintain required licenses, certifications, and competencies, and complete annual compliance courses on time • Coordinate and ensure Speech and Language coverage • Ensure department cleanliness and maintenance by keeping office and clinical areas clean and neat • Follow all system and department infection control procedures
