Job description

Job Title: Polysomnographic Technologist

Location: CRANFORD NJ

Pay Range: $29.25 - $37.46 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Polysomnographic Technologist - Sleep Technologist works under the general supervision of the Medical Director and the Administrative Director of Pulmonary & Sleep services to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep credentialed in sleep technology and can provide oversight of other sleep center staff.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least one-year experience as a sleep technologist

Preferred:

  • Qualification to obtain or possession of the CCSH — Certification in Clinical Sleep Health

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Current New Jersey State License as a Polysomnographic Technologist and/or Respiratory Therapist
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, three nights a week 6:30pm-7am
  • Rotating shifts and weekends
  • Full-Time (FT)

Essential Functions:

  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues
  • Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation
  • Follow HIPAA and privacy policies
  • Respond to sleep patients procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate education utilizing sleep center specific protocols
  • Adhere to sleep center policies and procedures
  • Comply with professional standards of conduct
  • Assist the medical director, clinical director and/or manager in all aspects of sleep center operations
  • Performs sleep studies for pediatric patients, starting at 18 months and older, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Demonstrates proper placement of leads and wires with 10–20 setup
  • Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots all sleep equipment, as well as pulse oximetry, transcutaneous monitoring, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and CPAP, BIPAP devices during the acquisition of the sleep study
  • Titrates CPAP/BIPAP according to AASM guidelines
  • Documents technician notes every half hour
  • Scores sleep study according to AASM guidelines
  • Responds to patient requests for information
  • Completes all charges
  • Coordinates dictation, transcription, final report, archiving, filing, and mailing process for sleep studies
  • Maintains inventory control
  • Completes yearly CME requirements
  • Participates in Performance Improvement
  • Achieves inter-scoring reliability equal or greater than 85 percent
  • Performs clerical work as needed, including scheduling, insurance authorization, calling patients to follow-up
