Seeking a Senior Project Manager to support a long-term contract opportunity with one of our utility clients in Birmingham, AL. This role will support a Data Analytics organization within Power Delivery and will help lead a portfolio of strategic data, analytics, and technology initiatives.
About the Role
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating multiple projects across data analytics and technology initiatives. This person will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, leadership, vendors, and consulting partners to make sure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business goals. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong communication, stakeholder management, reporting, and follow-through.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple concurrent projects across data analytics and technology initiatives
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, milestones, risks, and deliverables
- Track progress against scope, timeline, budget, and quality expectations
- Serve as a central point of contact across business teams, technical teams, leadership, and vendors
- Facilitate meetings, status reviews, workshops, and project check-ins
- Prepare agendas, document decisions, and track action items
- Provide regular updates and executive reporting on project health, risks, milestones, and next steps
- Coordinate with vendors and consulting partners to manage timelines, deliverables, and escalations
- Support budget tracking, forecasting, resource planning, and project governance
- Identify risks, dependencies, and resource gaps and help drive mitigation plans
- Support process improvement, reporting standards, templates, and project management best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Analytics, Project Management, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of project management experience supporting technology, analytics, data, or business transformation initiatives
- Experience managing multiple projects and stakeholders at the same time
- Strong communication, organization, prioritization, and follow-through
- Experience creating project plans, roadmaps, executive reports, schedules, and presentations
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
- Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar
Preferred Skills
- PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master, or similar certification
- Experience supporting data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or data platform projects
- Experience managing third-party vendors or consulting partners
- Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models
- Utility, energy, or power delivery experience is a plus
